PreCCOT Essay

Over the summer, one of the assignments all AP World students had to complete was a PreCCOT (Continuity-Change Over Time) essay.  This essay asks students to analyze changes over time while explaining and elaborating on continuities over the same time period.

This essay was a unique experience in that it was the first assignment in the first AP class I had ever taken.  Being able to tackle the essay allowed me to gain confidence and get a step ahead before starting the class.  The ability to accept challenges and overcome them is an important aspect of leadership, and this essay helped me gain that skill.

College Board US History Essay

In January 2015, Mrs. Zokan, my AP World teacher, asked if I would write an essay for the College Board APUSH essay contest.  This essay combined textual analysis of an important US historical document with an analysis of how the document impacts one's community and the world as a whole.

This essay was a great oppurtunity to synthesize both English skills and History knowledge into an essay.  Not only that, the oppurtunity to analyze an important document, like Abraham Lincoln's "House Divided" speech, allowed me to make an important connection to today's world.  Leadership is learning from the past and listening to lessons already learned, and this project helped refine this facet of leadership.
