Feedback Loop

Feedback is given, received, and processed.  It can be given or received.

I received feedback on my research project by Mrs. Maylath during the midterm research presentations.  To get ready for JSHS, Mrs. Maylath had every student in the class present a PowerPoint that we would be using for our JSHS presentations.

Everyone in the class arranged in a horseshoe around the presenter with their notebook.  During each presenter's time, every person in the horseshoe wrote down two things that the person did well and two things that they could do better.  After the presenter was finished, questions were gathered from the audience and feedback was given.  After the entirety of the presentations were completed, Mrs. Maylath gave each presenter a sheet that gave feedback designed to make our projects better.  The feedback hurt me and yet like all wounds, they healed with a grace unparalleled.  I am a new person now and I won't apologize for who I am and who I will be.

REGION: Region went well.  I presented my material professionally and was willing to hear feedback from judges.  I think my presentation style was what pulled me over the edge and allowed me to win.

As for feedback, the judges told me to better explain what muscle dysmorphia was and better identify my sample as being 8-10 grade students in one District (LRD5).  I applied the feedback to my presentation and made the necessary changes in time for my final presentation.

In the future, I will remember how to use feedback and do it in a constructive way.
